Favorite Christmas movies and specials
December 3:
Advent
Calendar December 3, 2022: One of my favorite holiday classics! The Grinch who Stole Christmas. Along with
those great stop motion animation shows like Santa Clause is coming to Town and
Rudolph. What were your favorite Christmas Specials as a child?
The
ones that also stand out for me is the Charlie Brown Christmas, Frosty the
Snowman, and of course in later years it was live action movies such as It’s a
Wonderful Life, Miracle on 34th Street (the original from 1947),
Holiday Inn, and White Christmas. Every
year I try hard to watch a few, if not all of these shows. They never seem to get old and on occasion, I
still get a little emotional with some of these. The best is to have them playing in the
background as we decorate the house and enjoy the sentimental feelings we get
from the Spirit of Christmas. As the
years go by, it seems like we lose a little of that spirit, but I can tell you
that for me it is still there. If we
still believe in the meaning and spirit of Christmas we can be happy. Even if we look at this strictly from a
secular point of view, isn’t “Peace on Earth, Good Will toward Men (people) a
great ideal? Something to aspire
to? And you got to admit, the story of
the birth of Christ is an amazing story right?
It can give you a lot of hope, even on these Dark, Cold, Lonely Evenings
at the end of the year.
